HISTORY

Everyday is turmeric time. Here at Golden Spice we use the whole turmeric root, natural black peppercorns and squeeze all the goodness from our feedstock with 80 proof multiple times distilled alcohol. We add a little wild honey for sweetness and fresh lime juice to control the Ph. Piperine from black pepper increases curcuminoids absorption. We use ethanolic water from completed spirits to harvest all the goodness in our turmeric. Pepper, citrus and turmeric are organically produced. Honey used is aromatic and wild sourced. No preservatives are ever used. We believe that a great product is created with ingenuity, hard-work and a little bit of creativity. And we think we have accomplished this. So enjoy our great Turmeric Alcoholic beverages with your friends, by yourself or wherever life takes you.

Turmeric: The proven benefits of this timeless spice have been enjoyed for thousands of years by countless peoples and cultures throughout the world. Curcumin, the main healthful ingredient in turmeric is readily dissolved in alcohol but not water. Turmeric is a product of Curcuma Longa, a rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plant belonging to the ginger family Zingiberaceae, which is native to tropical South Asia. As many as 133 species of Curcuma have been identified worldwide. Most of them have local common names and our preferred species comes from Belize Central America and is known as Yellow Ginger.

We practice sustainable farming and use Eco-Friendly practices, giving great care and concern to the natural ecosystem that exists within our farm and our planet. We use only organic gardening for all our products and retains experts in the necessary disciplines to accommodate success. We believe that we can not only grow a great product but also care for the environment and the indigenous people who have lived there for thousands of years.

History

Turmeric, the golden spice, the spice of life is revered in Ayurveda( science of long life) medicine, the Indian system of holistic medicine founded by the Vedic culture over 4,000 years ago. Turmeric is a product of Curcuma Longa, a rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plant belonging to the ginger family Zingiberaceae, which is native to tropical South Asia.

Medicine

In folk medicine turmeric has been used for thousands of years for both prevention and therapy of diseases. Although modern medicine has been used in treatment of various diseases, it is less than 100 years old. Traditional medicine, in comparison, has served mankind for thousands of years, is quite safe and effective.

Antioxidant

Oxidative damage is believed to be one of the mechanisms behind aging and many diseases. Curcumin is a potent antioxidant that can neutralize free radicals due to its chemical structure. In addition, curcumin boosts the activity of your body's own antioxidant enzymes. In that way, curcumin delivers a one-two punch against free radicals.

Types

As many as 133 species of Curcuma have been identified worldwide. Most of them have local common names and our preferred species comes from Belize Central America and is known as Yellow Ginger. Indian immigrants to Belize brought their best turmeric and planted it in the fertile ground of this tropical paradise. This is our Yellow Ginger.

Compounds

Many of the studies of turmeric target specific compounds which when viewed alone may not represent the same result as interaction with other compounds from the root whose goodness may require its other constituents. We recognize that observation and use the whole root in all our spirits.

Health Benefits

In studies, curcumin has been tested against various diseases and health conditions with many positive outcomes. Curcumin stimulates the flow of bile into the gastrointestinal tract. It has shown to have anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-septic, and anti-viral properties. It reduces chronic inflammation and abdominal pain and discomfort.

Components

More than 100 components and 230 compounds have been identified from turmeric. It produces a volatile oil containing turmerone and coloring agents called curcuminoids. Curcumin is the most recognized and studied component. The health conscious world acknowledges curcumin as a magic part of the turmeric plant.

Ingredients

Many components of turmeric are water soluble while others are alcohol soluble. We use ethanolic water from completed spirits to harvest all the goodness in our turmeric. Pepper, citrus and turmeric are organically produced. Honey used is aromatic and wild sourced. No preservatives are ever used.

Absorption

Turmeric is widely available in supplement form. Curcumin or turmeric supplements aren't well-absorbed orally unless taken with piperine. You can also increase your curcumin intake by using turmeric or curry powder in your cooking—just be sure to add black pepper to increase the absorption.
